Our College had organized an International Seminar on ‘Symbiosis between Academia and Corporate World – A Step forward’ on 21st& 22nd November 2012.
Day I of the Seminar started with the inaugural Session. Eminent Scientist Dr. Anil Kakodkar was the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. Anil Kakodkar enlightened the audience with his non structural ideas and laid emphasis on the quality and outcome of new developments. To quote him ‘Technology should be used for turning the wheels of industry’
Our Guest of Honor Shri Jayantrao Patil in his brief speech spoke of the mushrooming of a large number of Professional Colleges and the changing education scenario.
The Presidential Address was given by Mr. P. N. Santhangopal who gave an insight into the teachings of Munshiji and information on Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, at a time which coincides with 75 years of establishment of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and 125th birth anniversary of our Founder President Dr. K. M. Munshiji
Post Lunch period saw Dr. Vibhuti Patel from SNDT Women’s University speak on Women Empowerment and Higher Education. She felt that in spite of the Reservation Policy being implemented by the government there is still ample scope for adopting measures for bridging the gender gap existing even today.
After the conclusion of the Inaugural Session Distinguish Resource Person Dr. Rakesh Basant – Faculty IIM Ahmedabad spoke on a very burning issue plaguing all educational institutions namely paucity of faculty. This was more of an interactive session involving active participation of the audience
The next speaker was our foreign Guest Dr. Justin Paul, Faculty University of Washington, who gave a very practical comparison of the education system in India vis a vis Japan & USA.
The concluding session of Day One was a Paper Presentation Session by Teacher Participants & Students conducted simultaneously through parallel sessions.
Day Two began with a speech by Dr. Ajit Ranade – Chief Economist Aditya Birla Group representing the Corporate World. In his simple but informative speech Dr. Ranade spoke of the help the Corporate Sector could render to the education sector in the coming years.
The next speaker Renowned Academician Dr. J. Tilak spoke of Public Private Partnership in Higher Education and its growing importance in today’s world.
This was followed by Pre Lunch & Post Lunch Parallel Presentation Sessions. This session saw several positive views being voiced by my fellow Teacher Participants
The last session was the much awaited Valedictory Function. The Chief Guest was Shri Rajesh Tope – Hon. Minister for Higher & Technical Education & Energy, Government of Maharashtra.
We only hope that this Seminar provided the participants an insight into the relationship between Academia & Corporate World which could be fostered in the future.
